NDMA Warns of Flood Risk Across Northern Pakistan till June 15

Jarida Report

The National Disaster Management Authority has warned of a possible flood situation in the northern parts of the country from today until June 15 due to forecast rainfall.

According to the NDMA, localised flooding may occur in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir as heavy rains could cause rivers, streams and canals in mountainous areas to overflow.

The authority said flood-like conditions may develop in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram and Mansehra.

The NDMA spokesperson warned that heavy rainfall in hilly regions could significantly increase water levels in rivers and streams, posing risks to communities living near low-lying areas and waterways.
