Investigation Into Gul Plaza Tragedy By Judicial Commission Reveals The Absence Of Firefighting And Alarm Systems

The judicial commission’s investigation report into the Gul Plaza fire has revealed that firefighting and alarm systems were not present in the building.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to review the judicial commission’s investigation report on the Gul Plaza fire incident. The Chief Minister appreciated the commission’s investigation and efforts and directed that comprehensive reforms be introduced to improve building safety, including making fire safety audits mandatory for all buildings.

The Chief Minister was also given a detailed briefing on the judicial commission’s findings regarding the Gul Plaza fire incident. It was stated that the fire at Gul Plaza occurred on January 17, 2026. The investigation report revealed that there was no firefighting system or alarm system in Gul Plaza. Arrangements for safe evacuation in the building were also inadequate, while congestion and construction work outside the building further hampered rescue operations.
