The group of thieves stole eight priceless royal pieces of jewellery from the Louvre museum. According to officials, a team of 60 investigators were working based on the theory that the heist was planned and executed by an organized crime group. A source close to the investigation said that the thieves arrived between 9:30 and 9:40am Sunday, a little while after the museum opened at 9:00am They used a furniture hoist to get to the Apollo Gallery containing the royal collection, and they used cutting equipment to get in through a window and open the display cases.
The President of France Emmanuel Macron said on social media that “everything is being done” to catch the perpetrators and recover the stolen treasures.
