Rally Near LoC Urges UN to Resolve Kashmir Dispute for Regional Peace

Jarida Report

On May 26, 2025, Kashmiri activists held a significant rally in Athmuqam, Neelum Valley, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Organized by Pasban-i-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, the demonstration called upon the United Nations to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, aiming for lasting peace in the region.

Participants, including a large number of students, marched through the main bazaar carrying banners and placards demanding a just and urgent resolution of the Kashmir issue. They chanted slogans condemning India’s continued repression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and voiced strong support for the ongoing struggle for liberation.

Athmuqam, overlooked by Indian military artillery positions across the LoC, has previously been targeted in cross-border shelling, adding symbolic significance to the rally. Pasban-i-Hurriyat chairman Uzair Ghazali addressed the gathering, urging the UN Security Council to implement its resolutions, including the long-standing promise of a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that neither Pakistan nor the Kashmiris could be silenced by force and called for international pressure on India to halt human rights violations and release political prisoners in the region.
