Islamabad Police Constable Arrested for Abducting Three Citizens and Demanding Ransom

Jarida Report

An Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police constable has been arrested for abducting three citizens at gunpoint, detaining them illegally, and demanding a ransom of Rs300,000 for their release. The incident occurred on Thursday night near Kutchery Chowk in Rawalpindi, where the victims—Javaid Masih and his brothers Samar Iqbal and Anwar Masih—were stopped by three motorcycle riders, one of whom was in a Punjab police uniform. The suspects used Anwar’s cellphone to contact the victims’ nephew, threatening to implicate them in a drug case if the ransom wasn’t paid. The nephew alerted emergency services, leading to a police raid that rescued the victims and resulted in the arrest of one suspect, Ijaz, an ICT police constable. The other two suspects, including Arslan, a Rawalpindi police constable, are still at large. The Rawalpindi police have suspended Arslan and initiated departmental action against him. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani emphasized that abuse of authority and corruption will not be tolerated within the police force.
