Three Injured in Shooting at Lawyers’ Sit-In in Khairpur

On April 20, 2025, three individuals were injured in a shooting incident at a lawyers’ sit-in in Khairpur, Sindh. The protesters, who had been peacefully demonstrating against the construction of six canals on the Indus River, were attacked early in the morning by armed men in three SUVs. The assailants opened fire on the sleeping protesters before fleeing the scene. The Karachi Bar Association condemned the attack, describing it as an assault on democracy and the Indus River. The protesters have given the government a 72-hour ultimatum to withdraw the canal construction notification, threatening to escalate their protest if their demands are not met.
