Man Allegedly Kills Wife in Honour Killing Near Karachi’s Superhighway

Jarida Report

A man allegedly murdered his wife, Pari, near Karachi’s Superhighway on April 10, 2025. The incident occurred in Shahbaz Goth, Northern Bypass, where 40-year-old Pari was reportedly strangled by her husband, Ghulam Ali Bugti, in what police suspect to be an honour killing. The suspect fled the scene, and authorities are currently searching for him.

This tragic event adds to a concerning pattern of honour-based violence in Pakistan. For instance, in November 2024, a man stabbed his wife to death in Surjani Town, Karachi, over suspicions regarding her character.  Similarly, in August 2024, another woman was murdered by her husband over a financial dispute involving Rs300,000.

These incidents highlight the persistent issue of honour killings and domestic violence in Pakistan, underscoring the need for comprehensive legal reforms and societal interventions to protect women’s rights and ensure justice.
