4 Die During Celebrations of Mexico’s World Cup Victory

At least four people have died during celebrations following Mexico’s World Cup victory, according to the Mexico City Public Health Secretariat.

Health officials said three victims, two women aged 19 and 48, and a 44-year-old man died from asphyxiation. A fourth victim, a 30-year-old man, died after being taken to hospital with an epileptic seizure and gastrointestinal bleeding. Authorities said the cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest.

Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada expressed condolences to the victims’ families and pledged full government support for the investigation.

Speaking at a news conference, Brugada said the city would stand by the families of those who lost their lives during the celebrations at the Angel of Independence monument and provide any necessary assistance.
