3 IRGC Members Killed in US Strikes on Southwest Iran

Jarida Report

Three members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in US airstrikes targeting the southwestern province of Khuzestan on Thursday, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

Citing a statement from the IRGC’s Public Relations and Information Department in Khuzestan, IRNA said the personnel were killed in strikes that hit several areas of the province earlier in the day.

The attacks marked a second consecutive day of US strikes on Iran following Tehran’s attacks on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy shipping route. Iran has maintained that all ships must coordinate with its authorities before passing through the strategic waterway.

The latest escalation comes despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed on June 17 to end hostilities between the two countries. On Wednesday, however, US President Donald Trump declared the agreement was “over,” raising fresh concerns over a broader military confrontation.
