US President Donald Trump reaffirmed Washington’s close ties with Türkiye during talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, saying a decision on the sale of F-35 fighter jets could be made soon.
The two leaders discussed trade, defence cooperation, regional conflicts and NATO. Trump described Türkiye as a key US ally and praised Erdoğan’s leadership, while Erdoğan expressed hope for a positive outcome on the long-delayed F-35 programme.
Trump said the United States was considering the sale of the fighter jets, along with the necessary spare parts and support.
The leaders also discussed the wars in Ukraine and Syria, Iran-US dialogue and NATO, with both reaffirming support for regional stability and continued diplomatic engagement.
