Mnika Kafait

I will miss the start and still steal the show!

What an irony of time, I played on the go.

I was running late, but I ran too slow.

Hey, you are late; the alarms beeped,

Hey, you need to wait before you turn the keys,

Hey, you are to feel hassle-free,

Just take a deep breath; don’t yawn!

You need to be ready!

Don’t worry…

No one’s going to be there, to see me so early,

On the time appointed, they are figures merely,

The figures to make you wake up and get ready.

The event will start in an hour or two,

No no, it’s just the norm, nothing to do with you.

I will not miss the start and will steal the show!

I will be on time,
Too look at empty bleak?

Am I a freak?

I can’t make the tweaks.

Are you new to the community?

You look like a foreign entity,

They will question my dignity,

Availability, and alas, my stupidity…

I will be punished for my punctuality,

It starts late, this is legality,

I won’t be late, it’s not unreality.

The clock ticks here differently,

Delays are law, with unclear punctuality,

Don’t worry it’s our nationality!

I am Mnika Kafait, an artist and a learner who believes that every moment has something to teach, and I show up with my notebook ready. My work moves fluidly between poetry and prose, marked by carefully rendered imagery that carries emotional depth. Through my writing, I often explore what is fragile, unspoken, enduring, and often misunderstood. I also sometimes give my writings a sharper turn that highlights the absurdities of life.
