Sindh Upgraded Schools Set To Reopen By April 2027

Jarida Report

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed officials to make newly upgraded schools across the province fully operational by April 2, 2027, alongside a province-wide enrollment drive targeting out-of-school children.

The directives were issued during a review meeting on the Sindh Secondary Education Improvement Project (SSEIP) at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi.

Murad Shah stressed that completing school buildings alone was insufficient, saying institutions must have teachers, students and essential learning facilities in place before reopening.

“Our objective is not merely to construct schools but to ensure that children are enrolled, attend regularly and receive quality education close to their homes,” he said.

Officials briefed the meeting on progress under SSEIP and SELECT, enrollment campaigns, teacher deployment plans and the proposed involvement of Education Management Organizations (EMOs).

The two programmes cover 1,133 schools across Sindh, including 838 under SSEIP and 295 under SELECT.

Under the current schedule, 552 schools are expected to be completed by December 2026, while 801 are scheduled for completion by March 2027. All 1,133 schools are expected to be completed by December 2027.

The chief minister directed officials to ensure that schools scheduled for completion by March 2027 are furnished, staffed and ready to receive students by April 2.
