KARACHI: The Vice-Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Lyari, has tendered his resignation from the post, ARY News reported.
The resignation letter was sent directly to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The source text identifies the outgoing vice-chancellor as Professor Dr Akhtar Baloch, while also referring to him as Professor Dr Syed Hussain.
In his resignation, the vice-chancellor said a faction of university employees had been continuously pressuring him through protests and demands that he described as politically motivated.
According to the resignation letter, the employees were demanding the removal of the university registrar.
The outgoing VC maintained that administrative decisions should be taken in accordance with the law and should not be made under pressure from employees.
The resignation comes amid tensions over administrative matters at the university, with the VC citing continued pressure as the reason for stepping down.
