Saudi-Led Coalition Says It Intercepted Two Houthi Ballistic Missiles Targeting Riyadh

Jarida Report

The Saudi-led military coalition operating in Yemen announced on Sunday that its air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi group towards the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki confirmed the interceptions in a statement published on the social media platform X.

“Air defenses intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the terrorist Houthi militia toward Riyadh,” al-Maliki said.

The announcement came just hours after the coalition reported intercepting another ballistic missile allegedly fired by the Houthis towards Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

The reported interceptions indicate a fresh escalation in missile attacks targeting Saudi territory amid continuing hostilities between the coalition and the Houthi movement in Yemen.

The Houthis have repeatedly launched ballistic missiles and drones towards Saudi Arabia during the conflict, while coalition forces have maintained air defence operations to counter such threats.

The latest incidents involved three reported ballistic missile interceptions within a matter of hours, with Riyadh and the Eastern Province identified as the intended targets.

The coalition did not immediately provide details about possible debris damage or casualties resulting from the interceptions.

The claims have not been independently verified, and no immediate response from the Houthi group was included in the coalition’s announcement.
