Rockstar Games has expressed disappointment over the leak of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage, while confirming that the highly anticipated game will be released on November 19.
The developer addressed the leak in a statement on Wednesday, describing it as “heartbreaking” and saying the company had not intended for players to see the game in this way.
Rockstar apologised to fans for the lengthy wait and said development of GTA VI was nearing completion.
“We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow,” the company said, confirming plans to release a more detailed official preview of the game.
Rockstar said its priority remained delivering a game that exceeded players’ expectations and met the quality standards expected by the community.
Acknowledging that leaked footage and spoilers could affect the experience, the developer urged fans to wait until the official release to experience the game for themselves.
Rockstar also thanked the GTA community for the supportive messages it had received over the past week.
GTA VI, one of the most anticipated video game releases in recent years, is scheduled to launch on November 19.
