A child was born into a converted family on 27 February 1902 in Kushpur, District Lyallpur, now known as Faisalabad. He was named Paul Earnest through Roman Catholic baptism. He belonged to a learned family and humbly blessed the Roman Catholic Church with his God-given talents.
Paul Earnest wrote many books on Catholic doctrine and catechism and knew many encyclopedias by heart. He was a gifted orator on Roman Catholic issues and a great devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Many members of the clergy were seen taking notes during his speeches.
He wrote many books, but his best work is considered to be his Urdu translation of the Roman Catholic Bible. He was one of the team members of the Society of St. Paul, Rome. For his many works and translations of the Holy Bible, Pope Paul VI awarded him the Knight of St. Sylvester. This righteous and upright Roman Catholic man brought up and nourished all his children in the Roman Catholic religious spirit. Writing was in their blood, and his son, George Paul, became the author of many books.
When George Paul was blessed with a son, Naser Gulfam Paul, on 10 June 1969 in Kushpur, this Catholic family decided to offer their son to God so that he might become a true disciple of Jesus Christ. His mother’s bosom became a religious nursery, and the child continued to grow with both physical and spiritual nourishment under the loving supervision of his grandfather, Earnest Paul, and his father, George Paul.
The young man joined St. Mary’s Minor Seminary, Lahore, in 1985. He later continued his formation at the National Institute of Theology, Karachi, and was ordained a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Lahore on 26 July 1996.
On 26 July 2026, the parishioners of St. Bernard Church celebrated Father Naser Gulfam Paul’s 30th anniversary of priestly ordination with great splendor. They stated that Father Naser Gulfam was one of the unique servants of the Catholic Church and its people. He served at St. Joseph Church, Lahore Cantt., and Adah Church of Sialkot, the first Roman Catholic mission church in Punjab.

Apart from his religious education, he also earned Master’s degrees in Pakistan and New York. Like his grandfather and father, he is also an author of books, serving those who thirst for Catholic knowledge.
He has a charming personality and has always been successful in bringing his people together. When His Eminence Cardinal Joseph Coutts visited New York, Father Naser gathered 250 Pakistani believers for His Eminence’s solemn Holy Mass. When a man who had been ill for a long time requested Father Naser, saying that he wanted to kiss the Cardinal’s ring, Father Naser took the Cardinal to the sick man’s home. This was a rare and beautiful expression of a shepherd’s love for his sick sheep. He goes wherever he is needed to reach and comfort his people.
He serves not only Catholics but also Christians of other denominations and people of other faiths, sharing Christ’s message through compassion, service, and pastoral care. Yet he knows there is one door, whose keys are in the hands of Saint Peter.
Fr. Naser Gulfam Paul, may you continue to serve our Holy God, His Son Jesus Christ, and His people. May our Holy God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Blessed Virgin Mary be with you always.
