Punjab Prosecution Department Declares Hina Javed Murder a High-Profile Case

Jarida Report

The Punjab Prosecution Department has designated the Hina Javed murder case as high-profile and constituted a special committee of senior prosecutors to oversee the investigation and subsequent prosecution.

Punjab Prosecutor General Irfan Sadiq Tarar has directed Rawalpindi District Public Prosecutor Mian Imran Rahim to ensure effective prosecution and close coordination with investigators handling the case, which was registered at Civil Lines Police Station.

As part of the enhanced oversight, Rahim held a meeting with SP Pothohar Asar Ali, DSP Muhammad Shakeel and Civil Lines SHO Asif Sajjad to review the progress of the investigation. Deputy District Public Prosecutor Rehman Shaukat Bhatti also attended.

The meeting examined the available case record, evidence collected so far and the direction of the police investigation.

Investigating officers were instructed to adopt a comprehensive and evidence-based approach, with particular emphasis on ensuring that no potentially significant evidence or line of inquiry is overlooked. Prosecutors also provided investigators with further directions on areas requiring examination.

Separately, the committee of senior prosecutors established on the orders of the prosecutor general will continuously review developments in the case and provide legal guidance to the investigation team as the inquiry progresses.

The decision marks an escalation in official oversight of the investigation into Javed’s death, with prosecutors now directly monitoring both the quality of the evidence-gathering process and preparations for prosecution.
