Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated Spain on winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, praising the team’s outstanding performances throughout the tournament and commending the United States, Mexico and Canada for successfully co-hosting football’s biggest event.
In a message, the prime minister said the tournament once again demonstrated the power of sport to unite people across borders by promoting friendship, peace and mutual respect.
Congratulating Spain on lifting the World Cup trophy, Shehbaz described the victory as well deserved and noted that it marked the country’s second FIFA World Cup title.
He said the Spanish team displayed exceptional skill, unity, discipline and teamwork throughout the competition.
According to the prime minister, Spain’s consistent performances reflected the extraordinary talent and commitment of both the players and the coaching staff.
Shehbaz also praised the successful organisation of the tournament by the United States, Mexico and Canada, saying the three host nations had showcased football on the global stage through excellent arrangements and hospitality.
