Pakistan Stock Exchange Extends Rally for Third Consecutive Session Despite Rising Oil Prices

Jarida Report

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) maintained its upward momentum on Wednesday, extending gains for a third consecutive trading session as sustained buying interest supported the benchmark KSE-100 Index despite rising international oil prices and renewed concerns over Middle East energy supplies.

The benchmark was reported at 164,863.97 points at 12:49pm, with the market remaining in positive territory during midday trading.

The exchange had closed the previous session at 163,038.46 points, according to the figures provided.

Trading began on a firm note, with the KSE-100 Index advancing shortly after the opening bell. Within minutes, the benchmark reached 164,830.55 points, reflecting continued investor interest in equities.

The index subsequently extended its gains before retreating from its earlier highs, indicating some fluctuations as the session progressed.

Initial market highlights placed the benchmark’s trading range between 163,545.69 and 164,368.47 points, although these figures did not fully correspond with the higher index levels reported during the session.

The positive performance came against a backdrop of increasing international crude oil prices, driven by renewed concerns about possible supply disruptions in the Middle East.

Higher oil prices can create additional pressure on Pakistan’s import bill and broader economic outlook, making developments in global energy markets an important consideration for investors.

Nevertheless, buying activity helped sustain the stock market’s recent advance, keeping the benchmark in positive territory for a third successive session.

The figures available at midday were provisional, with the market’s final performance dependent on trading during the remainder of Wednesday’s session.
