Pakistan and Kuwait signed the Protocol Agreement-2026 on Thursday, expanding bilateral defence cooperation and strengthening the existing framework for military collaboration between the two countries.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence, the agreement builds on the Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023 and broadens cooperation between the armed forces of Pakistan and Kuwait.
The agreement was signed during a visit by a high-level Kuwaiti delegation led by Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah, accompanied by Kuwait’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan.
The delegation held talks with Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif at the Ministry of Defence in Rawalpindi, where discussions focused on bilateral defence relations, security cooperation and opportunities to deepen military ties.
Under the new agreement, the Pakistan Armed Forces will provide assistance to their Kuwaiti counterparts in areas including training, capacity building and border management, as well as other fields of defence cooperation agreed by the two sides.
The Defence Ministry said the agreement reflected the “deep trust, mutual respect and shared strategic interests” underpinning the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait.
Both countries also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation in support of mutual security and regional peace and stability, the ministry said.
