MIRPUR: Police arrested a man in Mirpur on Tuesday for allegedly filming a girl without her consent and uploading the video to TikTok through a fake account, according to a police spokesperson.
The incident came to light on September 25, 2026, when the girl’s family approached Mirpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khurram Iqbal and filed a complaint.
According to the family, the girl was travelling to an academy with her brother when an unidentified individual recorded her video and uploaded it to TikTok, raising concerns about the family’s privacy and reputation.
Taking notice of the complaint, SSP Khurram Iqbal directed the Cyber Crime Unit Mirpur to investigate the matter using technical resources and take legal action in accordance with the law.
The spokesperson said the unit traced the allegedly fake TikTok account through a technical investigation and identified the suspect as Essa, son of Afzal, a resident of Bang Rarah in Islamgarh tehsil of Mirpur district.
Islamgarh Station House Officer (SHO) Umair Rasheed and a police team subsequently arrested the suspect. Further investigation is under way to establish the facts and examine all aspects of the case, the spokesperson added.
Mirpur police urged citizens facing online harassment, unauthorised sharing of videos, fake social media accounts or online blackmail to report such incidents promptly and preserve relevant evidence.
Police also warned that sharing photographs or videos of individuals on social media without their consent could carry serious legal consequences, emphasising the importance of respecting privacy, dignity and individual rights in the digital space.
