Authorities have ordered the closure of all major bus terminals in Islamabad as part of heightened security measures ahead of the expected visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday.
According to officials, bus terminals, including those at Faizabad and Chongi No. 26, have been instructed to suspend operations before midnight on Monday. Services are expected to resume after the Iranian president’s departure.
As part of the security plan, Islamabad’s Red Zone will be sealed, with entry restricted to authorised personnel only.
More than 1,000 police officers, backed by Pakistan Rangers and other paramilitary forces, have been deployed across the Red Zone and other sensitive areas.
Security has also been tightened along the route from Islamabad International Airport to key government installations, while police have been directed to verify the identities of guests staying in hotels and guesthouses in and around the high-security zone.
