Iran Football Federation said on Tuesday that the United States had revoked its allocation of tickets for Iran’s World Cup group-stage matches, accusing the tournament co-host of preventing Iranian supporters from attending amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
The US has also imposed several bureaucratic restrictions on Iran during the global football event, including reportedly refusing visas for some members of the Iranian support staff, as tensions persist following attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel in late February.
“With less than three days remaining until the start of the 2026 World Cup… the United States has once again acted to obstruct the presence of Iranian supporters at the stadiums hosting the national team´s three group stage matches,” the federation said in a statement.
