The hearing of the foreign funding case against PTI founder Imran Khan and others was adjourned on Thursday after the prosecution once again failed to submit the challan, while the defence drew attention in court proceedings by referring to ChatGPT during arguments.
According to court proceedings, the challan was not presented before the court. Officials informed the judge that scrutiny of the challan was still in progress and was being carried out by the registrar of the banking court.
During the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer questioned the procedure and cited ChatGPT, stating that the AI tool suggested the registrar was not responsible for scrutinising the challan. He raised concerns over the legal basis of the process being followed. The prosecution responded strongly, arguing that the defence appeared to be relying on artificial intelligence without understanding the legal framework. It maintained that in special courts, the registrar is responsible for scrutinising challans before their formal submission.
