ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) inaugurated a Smart Paperless Digital Court during a ceremony held in Courtroom No. 1 on Wednesday, ARY News reported.
The Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court inaugurated the digital court, while Justice Aamer Farooq of the Federal Constitutional Court was also present.
IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar, other judges of the high court and distinguished guests also attended the ceremony.
The Smart Paperless Digital Court has been established as part of the IHC’s efforts to modernise judicial processes and promote digitalisation.
The IHC Registrar’s Office completed the project, while the High Court’s IT Department developed the system under the supervision of Umar Rashid Dar and on the instructions of the chief justice.
Separately, the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation on the court’s website and mobile application services.
Under the agreement, NADRA will provide hosting, backend infrastructure, technical support and maintenance for the Supreme Court’s digital platforms, along with approved upgrades and improvements.
The platforms provide public access to cause lists, judgments and other authorised judicial information, allowing litigants, lawyers and the general public to access court-related services more conveniently.
