France booked its place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Paraguay at Philadelphia Stadium, setting up a meeting with Morocco.
France dominated possession throughout the match, while Paraguay adopted a defensive approach and looked to threaten on the counterattack.
After a goalless first half, France was awarded a penalty following a VAR review in the 65th minute when Désiré Doué was fouled inside the box.
Kylian Mbappé converted the spot-kick in the 70th minute to score the only goal of the match. Paraguay was unable to find an equaliser as France held on to secure the win.
The match was played in hot conditions, with a crowd of 68,324 in attendance. France will now face Morocco in the quarterfinals.
