Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott went on trial in Scotland on Tuesday, accused of sexually abusing two children of primary school age.
The 49-year-old faces two charges of lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour. One charge concerns allegations involving a girl between 1993 and 1996, while the other relates to a boy between 2006 and 2010.
Dott denies both charges.
Proceedings at the High Court in Glasgow opened with evidence from one of the alleged victims, now a woman in her 40s.
She told the court that Dott had sexually abused her on several occasions when she was a child. Describing one alleged incident, she said he touched her over her clothing after offering her a piggyback ride and allegedly asked whether it “felt nice.”
The witness also described another alleged incident involving what Dott reportedly called a “guessing game,” during which she said she was inappropriately touched and asked to identify what he was doing.
She told prosecutors that the alleged game occurred on more than one occasion.
The trial is being heard before Judge Lord Harrower and is expected to continue for up to five days.
