Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Friday that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan had been declared medically fit following an examination by a team of specialist doctors.
Speaking to reporters after Khan returned to Adiala Jail, Tarar said he had been taken to PIMS Hospital under security arrangements in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions.
According to the minister, doctors from Shifa International Hospital also participated in the examination, alongside specialists at PIMS. The medical team included ophthalmologists, cardiologists and physicians.
Tarar said authorities opted for PIMS because of security concerns along the route and around Shifa International Hospital, where PTI supporters had gathered.
Imran’s sister Uzma Khan was present during the medical assessment, the minister added.
Following the examination, Khan was returned to Adiala Jail at around 5am.
Tarar maintained that the PTI founder had been provided necessary healthcare during his imprisonment and would continue to receive medical attention whenever required.
The examination followed Supreme Court directions concerning Imran Khan’s medical care while in custody.
