The Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said on Tuesday it had foiled an alleged terrorist plot in Karachi after arresting two men suspected of belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
According to the CTD, the suspects, identified as Mujahid Baloch and Fareed Baloch alias Zakir Bin, were arrested during an intelligence-based operation. Investigators alleged the pair had received training at BLA camps and were gathering information on sensitive installations while attempting to establish a network to target security forces and other key sites in the city.
Officials said 4kg of explosives, detonators, primacord and ball bearings were recovered during the operation. A case has been registered under the Explosives Substances Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act, while further investigations are underway.
