Belgium advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 4-1 victory over co-host United States, ending the hosts’ campaign.
Charles De Ketelaere scored twice, while Hans Vanaken and substitute Romelu Lukaku also found the net. Malik Tillman scored the United States’ only goal after his free-kick was deflected into the net.
The victory means all three tournament co-hosts, the United States, Canada and Mexico have been eliminated from the competition.
Belgium will face Spain in the quarterfinals on Friday after the European champions defeated Portugal 1-0.
