Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he has been diagnosed with a neurological condition after collapsing on the pitch twice within four days.
The 23-year-old went down just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute during Bayern’s 4-2 friendly victory over FC Heidenheim on Tuesday. He appeared dazed while receiving medical attention and was subsequently helped from the field.
Musiala had experienced a similar episode during Bayern’s 3-1 friendly win against RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Addressing concerns about his health, Musiala said on Instagram that doctors had diagnosed him with brief and temporary absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction, which he described as treatable.
He confirmed that the condition was responsible for both recent incidents and said he was now receiving appropriate medical care.
Musiala also reassured supporters that doctors had identified no additional health risk, adding that neurologists had cleared him to continue playing football while undergoing treatment.
The latest setback follows a lengthy recovery from serious injuries sustained during Bayern’s FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain in July 2025, when Musiala suffered a fractured fibula as well as a broken and dislocated ankle.
He spent 196 days out of action before returning in January 2026.
Musiala later represented Germany at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the national team was eliminated by Paraguay on penalties in the round of 32.
