Bomb Threats on Two Ryanair Flights at Rome Airport Declared False After Security Checks

Jarida Report

Italian police declared bomb threats against two Ryanair flights arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport false on Tuesday after extensive security inspections found no explosives or suspicious devices, according to Italian broadcaster Sky TG24.

The security alert was triggered by an anonymous tip claiming that bombs had been placed aboard two Ryanair aircraft travelling to the Italian capital from Lisbon and Dublin.

The flight from Lisbon landed at approximately 9:40am local time (0840 GMT), while the aircraft arriving from Dublin touched down at 10:44am (0944 GMT).

Following the warning, airport security personnel and police conducted precautionary inspections of both aircraft, their passengers and baggage in accordance with established aviation security procedures.

Specialist bomb disposal teams were also deployed to examine the aircraft and investigate the reported threats.

The operation concluded shortly after noon, when authorities confirmed that no explosive materials or suspicious devices had been discovered.

The threats were subsequently classified as false alarms.

The incidents occurred amid a series of reported bomb threats involving passenger aircraft across several European countries on Tuesday.

Authorities in Poland, Spain, Bulgaria and Italy responded to similar alerts, prompting precautionary security checks at airports.

The simultaneous reports raised concerns about aviation security and led authorities to implement established emergency procedures to ensure the safety of passengers and airport personnel.

Italian authorities did not immediately provide details about the source of the anonymous warning or whether the threats were connected to those reported elsewhere in Europe.

No arrests or further investigative findings were announced in the initial reports.
