Political Tensions Should Not Escalate Further, Says Barrister Gohar

Jarida Report

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has called for an end to political tensions, urging all sides to resolve their differences through sincere dialogue and negotiations.

Speaking to the media at the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday, Gohar said political victimisation must stop and disputes should be settled through negotiations. He said an offer for back-channel talks was available, but practical steps were needed to move the process forward.

He maintained that PTI had never opposed dialogue and was still making efforts to arrange a meeting, despite not having received a formal offer for one. He stressed that negotiations should be conducted with sincerity and good intentions.

Gohar also criticised the absence of the chief minister and the provincial assembly speaker, describing the situation as illogical. He further expressed disappointment over remarks made by Barrister Saif.

Welcoming the Peshawar High Court’s decision to refer the matter to the chief justice for consideration by a larger bench, Gohar said the situation would not have reached the stage of a possible Governor’s Rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if earlier court decisions had been implemented.

The PTI chairman also demanded the release of party leaders, members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, and the sisters of party founder Imran Khan. He reiterated that political issues should be addressed through serious negotiations rather than further confrontation.
