Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) welcomed its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on Sunday, marking a significant development in the national carrier’s fleet modernisation efforts, according to ARY News.

The wide-body aircraft, acquired on lease, arrived at Islamabad International Airport from London on flight PK-786.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the aircraft is the first Boeing 787-9 to join the airline’s fleet and the first of its type to be operated by any Pakistani airline.

PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat received the aircraft upon its arrival at Islamabad airport.

The airline said the Dreamliner features advanced in-flight entertainment systems, a spacious cabin and modern passenger amenities designed to provide a more comfortable long-haul travel experience.

The Boeing 787-9 is a modern, fuel-efficient aircraft designed for long-distance international routes, offering airlines greater operational flexibility and improved passenger comfort.

PIA expects the addition to strengthen its international flight network and support efforts to enhance service standards on overseas routes.

The airline said the aircraft would help provide passengers with a modern travel experience aligned with international aviation standards.

The arrival represents a step in PIA’s efforts to upgrade its fleet and improve its competitiveness in international aviation.
