WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said he deserves the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize but acknowledged that he is uncertain whether he will receive it.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which is due to announce the award on Friday, has “a reputation for maybe not giving it to people like me.”
Trump has repeatedly claimed he deserves the prize since returning to the White House. He said he should be considered after becoming involved in efforts concerning eight conflicts.
Leaders of Cambodia, Israel and Pakistan have said they nominated Trump, although the nominations cannot be independently verified. Parties to some conflicts Trump has claimed to have resolved have disputed his role, with fighting later resuming in some areas.
