Pakistan cricket star Babar Azam has come under criticism after a video circulating on social media appeared to show him pushing away one fan and throwing another fan’s phone during a domestic match in Islamabad.
The incident reportedly occurred during the President’s Trophy, when two fans approached Babar on the field apparently seeking selfies.
In the widely shared clip, one fan can be seen approaching Babar with a phone before the cricketer appears to push him away. Babar then turns towards another person and appears to take or knock away his phone, throwing it aside.
However, the footage captures only a brief portion of the encounter, and the events immediately preceding the confrontation remain unclear.
The incident occurred while Babar was on the field during the match, rather than during a scheduled interaction with spectators, raising questions about fans entering players’ personal space while play is underway.
The video has nevertheless generated considerable discussion online, particularly as Babar is going through a difficult period of form in both international and domestic cricket.
It is not the first time footage of a tense interaction between Babar and supporters has circulated. Previous incidents have involved fans crowding around him for photographs or filming him despite requests for privacy.
