RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed more than 71 terrorists in Operation Shaban and separate operations across Balochistan over the past 96 hours, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the military’s media wing, 33 Indian-sponsored militants have been killed during Operation Shaban after security forces engaged militants and cleared multiple hideouts in the Shaban area of Quetta district.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the hideouts, ISPR said.
The military said the operation intensified over the past 72 hours, resulting in the killing of 23 terrorists, while security forces cleared a significant area and reduced the threat to local communities.
According to ISPR, intelligence agencies had identified multiple hideouts allegedly linked to what it described as Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan in the Shaban area.
Based on the intelligence, security forces launched an operation in Ziarat and surrounding areas on September 21.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Nushki on September 25, security forces targeted a militant hideout and killed 11 terrorists, according to ISPR.
The military also said six Fitna Al-Hindustan militants were killed in Mand, with a large quantity of weapons and ammunition recovered.
ISPR said clearance operations were continuing until the complete neutralisation of the remaining threat.
The military alleged that terrorism in Pakistan was being supported by foreign elements, including what it described as Indian-backed Afghan proxies.
It said counterterrorism operations were being conducted under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
“Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies remain committed to eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” ISPR said.
