LAKKI MARWAT: Three players of a local cricket team were killed and three others injured when militants opened fire on a rickshaw carrying them in Lakki Marwat, police said.
The attack took place near Abdul Khel village as the players were returning after playing a cricket match in Shah Hassan village.
According to police, the attackers had allegedly been lying in wait along the route before opening fire on the rickshaw. They fled the area after the shooting.
Three players died at the scene, while three others sustained injuries.
Police and rescue teams reached the site after receiving information about the attack and shifted the bodies and injured to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
Police also collected evidence from the crime scene as an investigation into the attack began.
Dara Pezu police identified the deceased as Muhammad Umair, Sadiq Amin and Aliyan. The injured were identified as Asifullah, Imdadullah and Ijaz Khan.
