Mohamed Salah Reaffirms Trabzonspor Commitment After Europa League Exit

Jarida Report

Mohamed Salah has reaffirmed his commitment to Trabzonspor following the Turkish club’s heavy defeat to Ferencvaros and elimination from the UEFA Europa League.

Trabzonspor suffered a 4-0 defeat in Budapest on Thursday, completing a 5-0 aggregate loss in the playoff round after Ferencvaros had won the opening leg 1-0 in Türkiye.

Responding to the setback on X on Friday, the 34-year-old Egyptian international said difficult moments had been a recurring part of his career and had often provided motivation for later success.

“Nothing in my career ever came easy. Bad nights and disappointments are part of football, and I have learned to turn them into motivation and into trophies,” Salah said.

He dismissed any suggestion that the European disappointment could affect his future with the club, declaring: “Trabzonspor is my club, and I am part of this project, body and soul. Last night will not change that.”

Salah also acknowledged the expectations surrounding Trabzonspor and maintained that he remained convinced the team could deliver success.

“I know expectations are high, and I truly believe we can and will deliver. ‘I came here to win’ is not just a slogan to me,” he said.

The defeat also prompted head coach Fatih Tekke to offer his resignation, describing the result as “unacceptable.” Trabzonspor’s management, however, rejected his resignation.

Despite their Europa League elimination, Trabzonspor’s European campaign will continue in the UEFA Conference League, where their league-phase opponents include Freiburg, Red Star Belgrade, KuPS Kuopio, Hearts, Jablonec and CSKA Sofia.
