First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Sunday urged the Punjab government to conduct a thorough investigation into the murder of Hina Javed in Rawalpindi, calling for those responsible to be brought to justice.
Hina was found dead under suspicious circumstances at an apartment in the Askari Apartments area, within the jurisdiction of Civil Lines police. Her body reportedly bore signs of torture and was found partially hanging from a bathroom shower, with her hands tied behind her back and a wire around her neck.
In a statement shared by the President’s Office on X, Aseefa expressed “deep concern and sorrow” over the reported murder and extended her condolences and solidarity to Hina’s family.
“She called upon the Government of Punjab to ensure a thorough inquiry and proper investigation into the heinous crime,” the statement said.
Aseefa stressed that those found responsible must be “brought to justice and made an example of so that no one dares to repeat such an act.”
She also voiced concern over the rise in violence against women in Pakistan, calling for effective measures to improve their protection and prevent similar crimes in the future.
