Pakistan, Brazil Discuss US-Iran Mediation and Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira discussed Islamabad’s mediation efforts between the United States and Iran during a telephone conversation on Thursday, stressing the importance of diplomacy in promoting international peace and security.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Vieira appreciated Pakistan’s role and its efforts to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

The Brazilian foreign minister also congratulated Dar on Pakistan’s signing of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement.

Dar thanked Vieira for his remarks and praised Brazil’s contribution to South-South cooperation, as well as its support for international peace and stability.

The two ministers exchanged views on a range of regional and international developments and emphasised the need for continued dialogue, diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.

They also agreed to maintain high-level contacts and closer coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.

Both sides reaffirmed their intention to further develop relations between Pakistan and Brazil across areas of mutual interest.

The ministers also exchanged invitations for official visits, with Dar inviting Vieira to Pakistan and Vieira inviting Dar to Brazil.

They agreed to remain in close contact and continue working towards expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
