Pakistan and Kuwait on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, agreeing to strengthen collaboration in defence, trade, investment, energy, agriculture, mining and minerals during high-level talks in Islamabad.
The discussions took place between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and visiting Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the two sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and agreed to further institutionalise cooperation through stronger institutional linkages and regular high-level exchanges.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including developments in the Middle East and the situation in Palestine.
The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination in multilateral forums on issues of shared interest, the ministry said.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to its longstanding ties with Kuwait and expressed Islamabad’s desire to further broaden cooperation across a range of sectors for mutual benefit.
Al-Sabah, in turn, commended Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a two-day official visit, amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
