Yemen Reaffirms Cooperation with Saudi-Led Coalition Amid Houthi Tensions

Jarida Report

Yemen’s internationally recognised government on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Saudi-led coalition and international partners to counter security threats and protect key maritime routes amid heightened tensions with the Houthi movement.

In a post on X, Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, said the cooperation would focus on safeguarding vital waterways as well as combating terrorism, smuggling and organised crime.

“This is both a national responsibility and an unwavering commitment to the security of Yemen, the region and global peace,” al-Alimi said.

He accused the Houthis and their supporters of undermining efforts to reduce tensions and dragging Yemen into repeated crises in support of what he described as Iran’s regional agenda.

Al-Alimi said the aspirations of the Yemeni people for a state founded on “dignity, security and stability” would not become a bargaining tool.

He added that the Houthis “have no choice but to heed the will of the Yemeni people.”

The council chairman also warned that continued escalation would waste the country’s remaining resources without weakening public resolve to end the conflict and restore state authority across Yemen.
