Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that its Aerospace Force targeted a US military base in Kuwait during what it described as the 12th wave of a retaliatory operation, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.
The IRGC claimed the strike targeted a missile defence detection and identification radar, several weapons depots, two High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers, and missiles stored within the system.
It also alleged that the attack triggered a large fire at the base.
According to the IRGC, the operation was carried out in response to recent US strikes that it said hit civilian facilities, telecommunications infrastructure, railway workers and vehicles, resulting in casualties.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday that it had completed a new wave of offensive strikes against Iranian military assets, marking the sixth consecutive night of US military operations.
Regional tensions have remained high since February, when the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes targeting Gulf countries hosting US military facilities.
Although Iran and the United States signed a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding last month aimed at ending the conflict and pursuing a lasting peace agreement, tensions have escalated again in recent days, particularly over the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides exchanging attacks.
