The United States carried out another wave of military strikes against Iran late Monday, targeting coastal military infrastructure in an effort to further weaken Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
According to CENTCOM, the five-hour operation concluded at 10:15 p.m. ET on July 13 and struck military targets in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas.
The command said US forces used precision-guided munitions to target Iranian coastal defence systems, missile and drone installations, and other maritime capabilities.
In a statement, CENTCOM said “More than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed across the Middle East. American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready.”
The operation marked the third consecutive night of US strikes ordered by President Donald Trump.
Speaking at the White House earlier on Monday, Trump said the campaign was aimed at dismantling Iran’s military capabilities related to the Strait of Hormuz while maintaining that diplomacy remained possible.
“We’re attacking them tonight, and we’re taking out all of their capability for anything having to do with the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump told reporters.
The latest strikes come amid escalating military exchanges between Washington and Tehran over security in the strategic waterway, a key route for global energy supplies.
