Father Alleges Son Was Tortured to Death at Islamabad Mental Health Centre

Jarida Report

A young patient allegedly died after being tortured at a mental health centre in Islamabad, with his family accusing the facility’s staff of abuse and attempting to cover up the incident, according to a report by ARY News.

The victim’s father has submitted an application at Shahzad Town Police Station seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).

According to the complaint, staff members fled the facility after the incident, while visible torture marks were found on the victim’s body.

The father said he admitted his son to the mental health centre in June, but claimed the administration prevented him from meeting him for an entire month.

He further alleged that on July 9, the family was informed that his son had contracted dengue. However, when he arrived at the centre, he discovered that his son had already died.

The complaint also states that the facility’s owner, Dr. Hamza, is missing and has not been found since the incident.

Police have received the application, and further legal proceedings are expected.
