Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Call for Restraint as Middle East Tensions Escalate

Jarida Report

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Saturday warned that renewed conflict in the Middle East “serves no one’s interest”, as both countries called for restraint and a return to dialogue amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran.

During a telephone conversation, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed “deep concern” over the recent escalation despite last month’s agreement between Washington and Tehran, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said.

According to the statement, the two leaders agreed that renewed hostilities “serve no one’s interest and undermine efforts toward regional peace and stability.”

Prince Faisal stressed the need for de-escalation and continued dialogue, while Dar reiterated Pakistan’s call on all parties to “exercise maximum restraint” and allow ongoing mediation efforts “the necessary time and space” to achieve a peaceful resolution.

The latest diplomatic exchange comes after several days of renewed military strikes between the US and Iran, despite the Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June to end months of conflict and pave the way for a lasting peace agreement.
