Samsung Electronics on Tuesday forecast a record second-quarter operating profit of 89.4 trillion won ($58.4 billion), driven by continued strong global demand for artificial intelligence memory chips.
The company said the April–June profit would be up 1,810% from the same period last year, marking its highest quarterly operating profit on record.
Demand for advanced memory chips used in AI data centres has boosted earnings across South Korea’s semiconductor industry this year.
Industry analysts said the results highlight Samsung’s strong position in the AI chip market and could further strengthen its standing among the world’s leading technology manufacturers.
