Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed officials to improve access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a focus on supporting business expansion and export growth.
Chairing a meeting on the performance of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), the prime minister called for easier access to loans and instructed officials to facilitate financing for farmers to establish agricultural and fruit processing facilities.
He also urged commercial banks to introduce dedicated lending products for SMEs and directed authorities to launch awareness programmes to improve access to financing for the sector, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
