Medical Group Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan’s North Kordofan

Jarida Report

More than 200,000 people, including over 20,000 children, are facing a worsening humanitarian crisis in Bara, Sudan’s North Kordofan State, amid disease outbreaks and severe shortages of food and medicine, the Sudan Doctors Network said on Sunday.

In a statement, the group said more than 100 measles cases have been recorded among children, while 45 cholera cases have also been confirmed. It attributed the situation to deteriorating health services and a lack of essential medical supplies.

According to the network, several health facilities, including Tayba al-Zaatari Hospital and Umm Kuraidim Hospital, are operating without medical supplies.

The group warned that continued disruptions to medical and food supplies, along with restricted humanitarian access, could worsen the crisis and lead to higher mortality rates, particularly among children and other vulnerable groups.
